John McCain is taking criticism for not properly “vetting” his recently announced V.P., Sarah Palin. American voters are divided about his choice, but many seem to be united in their need to learn the word “vetting“, which was #8 in the list of Google search terms today* according to the Google trends site.
This bit of news got me thinking about how much I love learning new words and their origins as well as how common phrases historically find their way into our day to day speech. I’ve used a number of sites over the years that I’ve found helpful to learn more in this area. I now wish to share some of them with you in the interest of helping to enrich your communication skills and word knowledge, as well as that of your homeschooled children.
There’s a ton of great information in these sites and you could get lost for hours reading through them. Enjoy!
